Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand finally found the back of the net in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series against the Toronto Maple Leafs, snapping an eight-game goal drought. Marchand’s two goals and an assist helped the Bruins to a 4-2 victory, tying the series at 2-1.
After assisting on Jake DeBrusk’s go-ahead goal early in the third period, Marchand regained the lead for the Bruins just 1:53 later with his first goal of the series. He then sealed the deal with an empty-net goal with 28 seconds remaining.
In addition to his goals, Marchand had six shots and two hits, leading the Bruins to their second win of the series.
Jeremy Swayman made 28 saves for the Bruins, while Ilya Samsonov stopped 30 shots for the Maple Leafs.
Auston Matthews and Charlie McAvoy led all skaters with eight hits each, while James van Riemsdyk had an assist for the Maple Leafs.
The series now shifts to Toronto for Game 4 on Saturday night, with the Bruins looking to take a commanding 3-1 series lead.
