Bruins’ Peeke Injured in Game 2, Shorthanded on Defense

Boston Bruins defenseman Andrew Peeke left the ice holding his hand after being hit by a shot in the second period of Game 2 of the first-round playoff series between Boston and Toronto.

Peeke did not return to the game after being injured late in the second period. The Bruins did not provide an immediate update on his condition, but his absence left them shorthanded on defense.

Peeke is a regular on the Bruins’ penalty kill and had played over 10 minutes before getting hurt. If he is unable to play in Game 3, the Bruins could turn to either Parker Wotherspoon or Derek Forbort, who recently returned from a conditioning loan.
