The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made a roster move just before the NFL Draft, waiving cornerback Richard LeCounte on Wednesday. LeCounte, 25, had been with the team for eight months, signing during the 2023 preseason. He remained on the practice squad throughout the regular season and playoffs, being elevated to the active roster three times for game day. LeCounte saw action in two of those three games, playing four snaps on special teams.
LeCounte entered the NFL as a fifth-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2021. He appeared in 10 games with one start over two seasons in Cleveland, recording three tackles. Before joining the NFL, LeCounte played college football at the University of Georgia, appearing in 41 games over four seasons. During his time with the Bulldogs, he recorded 176 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, eight interceptions, 10 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries.
