A building collapse in Lucknow’s Transport Nagar has sparked fears of multiple individuals being trapped under the rubble. The incident occurred around 5 pm on [date], involving a building used as a go-down. Emergency services, including police and rescue teams, are currently on site assessing the situation and providing assistance.
According to India TV, ten people have been rescued so far. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the situation and directed officials to prioritize rescue efforts. Officials confirmed that around a dozen people are still feared trapped under the debris.
Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed to the scene and are working diligently to extricate the trapped individuals. Relief Commissioner GS Naveen Kumar confirmed the deployment of these specialized rescue teams.
This incident comes on the heels of other building collapses in the region. Last month, a laborer was killed and five others were trapped when the roof slab of an under-construction building collapsed in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district. Earlier in August, a building collapse in Lucknow’s Mahendru Enclave resulted in one fatality and two minor injuries.
