Burglar Nabbed: Woman Posing as Vegetable Vendor Involved in Daytime Thefts

The Dindoshi police have arrested 60-year-old Nilofar Khan for her alleged involvement in daytime burglaries. Khan is accused of posing as a vegetable vendor to access locked residences and stealing valuables. Investigations have linked her to recent burglaries in Santosh Nagar and Upper Govind Nagar, where she stole jewelry and cash worth nearly Rs 3 lakh.

Khan has a prior criminal record for burglary and has relocated to a nearby rented house after vacating her flat in Pathan Wadi. She reportedly sold stolen gold ornaments to purchase luxury items.

In the Santosh Nagar incident, Khan allegedly stole cash and jewelry worth approximately Rs 1,12,000, while in Upper Govind Nagar, she made off with valuables worth Rs 1,78,000.

The investigation team, led by API Dr. Chandrakant Gharge, Smita Patil (DCP, Zone XII), and Senior Police Inspector Irfan Pathan, identified Khan’s suspicious behavior in the vicinity and determined her skills in breaking into locked homes.

Khan was taken into custody last week and confessed to the crimes during questioning.
