USC quarterback Caleb Williams has expressed his excitement about the potential construction of a new Bears stadium on the lakefront in Detroit. Williams, who is widely expected to be the first overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, spoke about his willingness to play in cold temperatures during an NFL charity event on Wednesday, despite the chilly conditions outside.
“I played in Ohio when it was snowing,” Williams said. “I played in rain, sleet. I played in below freezing. I played in super-high temperatures. I feel like I hit all the temperatures.”
The Bears are set to unveil plans for the new stadium later on Wednesday. The team is focusing on building downtown despite owning the former Arlington International Racecourse site in Arlington Heights. Williams acknowledged that the stadium would take several years to complete, but he expressed his eagerness to play there in the future.
“If that were the place, I’d be excited — If that was the thing that was happening, I’d be excited,” Williams said. “It wouldn’t be for a couple years obviously. It takes a while to build things like that. I would be excited to be in the stadium.”
