The Calgary Police Service is searching for a suspect in connection with a southeast hotel homicide that occurred last month.
On March 25th, at approximately 3 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at the Super 8 hotel in the 0 to 100 block of Shawville Road Southeast. Officers discovered a man in one of the fourth-floor suites suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy later identified the victim as 29-year-old Liban Abdirahman. Abdirahman’s death marked the city’s fourth homicide of the year.
After reviewing the evidence, police announced on Monday that they are seeking a suspect believed to be involved in the shooting. The suspect, described as a man in his 20s, has a slim build and stands around six feet tall. At the time of the incident, he was seen wearing blue shoes, camouflage jeans, and a long, green winter coat. He fled the scene in a grey 2016 to 2018 Ford Focus hatchback.
Investigators believe the suspect may have connections to Edmonton. Acting Staff Sgt. John Pearson urged anyone with information to contact the police, stating, ‘One man lost his life, and the person responsible needs to be held accountable.’
Individuals with information related to this incident are asked to contact the Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers.
