Xbox is bringing Call of Duty to Game Pass sooner than expected. The company announced on Tuesday that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be added to the service on Wednesday, July 24th. This news comes after rumors from outlets like Insider Gaming, and it was officially confirmed on Xbox Wire.
Xbox confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 will be available on Game Pass for Console, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Ultimate, including most game modes like single-player and the Zombies mode. However, it doesn’t appear to include Warzone, the series’ popular battle royale spinoff, which remains free to play.
Activision has been remaking the Modern Warfare trilogy in recent years, starting with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a remake of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Modern Warfare 2 was also a hit, but Modern Warfare 3 received mixed reviews. Critics like Digital Trends considered it “the series’ worst installment yet,” citing a lackluster single-player campaign, boring missions, and a lack of original 6v6 maps in multiplayer.
Despite the flaws, Modern Warfare 3 remains a Call of Duty game, attracting millions of players. It was the second bestselling game of 2023 behind Hogwarts Legacy.
Since Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard, fans have been eagerly waiting for the company’s games to be added to Game Pass. While nothing has been officially confirmed, rumors suggest that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is coming to the service soon.
