Canadian stocks climbed on Monday, with the S&P/TSX Composite Index rising 0.30%.
The gains were primarily driven by the REITs, Real Estate, and Consumer Discretionary sectors.
Celestica Inc. emerged as the biggest gainer, surging 5.18% to close at 58.93.
Kelt Exploration Ltd. and Killam Properties Inc. also posted significant gains.
On the losing side, Energy Fuels Inc. plunged 10.05% to 7.25.
NovaGold Resources Inc. and Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. also suffered notable declines.
In commodities, gold futures fell 2.90% to $2,343.90 per troy ounce, while crude oil prices remained largely unchanged.
The CAD/USD exchange rate was steady at 0.73, and the CAD/EUR remained at 0.69.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, an indicator of implied volatility in the S&P/TSX Composite Index, decreased 5.30%.
The US Dollar Index Futures also declined slightly.
