The Vancouver Canucks are down 1-1 in their playoff series against the Nashville Predators, but they’re sticking to their game plan.
Despite a 4-1 loss in Game 2, the Canucks controlled possession for much of the game and put up 84 shot attempts. The problem was that only 18 of those shots made it on net, with Nashville absorbing 30 blocked shots.
The Canucks are confident that they can turn things around in Game 3. Captain Quinn Hughes said the team needs to keep going to the net and capitalizing on their opportunities. Forward J.T. Miller said the team needs to break through Nashville’s defense and get more shots on goal.
Head coach Rick Tocchet said he wants to see more “decisive” play from his team. He also said that goalie Casey DeSmith will start Game 3 in place of the injured Thatcher Demko.
The Canucks are now headed to Nashville and will have a few days to rest before facing the Predators on home ice at 4:30 p.m. PT on Friday.
