The closure of the Carl’s Jr. location in Boise adds to a growing list of restaurant closures in the city this year. The Bonefish Grill closed in January after 15 years in business, and the popular breakfast chain Denny’s closed two locations in Boise and Nampa in March. Other major dining chains have also announced closures recently, with Denny’s planning to close around 60 locations due to the impact of inflation on profitability.
Carl’s Jr. was founded in 1941 in Anaheim, California, and has since expanded to over 1,000 locations nationwide and 3,000 locations worldwide. The chain is known for its bright yellow star sign and fan favorites such as the Six Dollar Burger, Hand-Scooped Milkshakes, and Charbroiled Turkey Burgers. From 2000 to 2010, Carl’s Jr. became the first fast food chain to offer a plant-based burger and a CBD-infused burger.
The reason for the Boise location’s closure has not been officially announced by the company, but it may be related to the increased cost of rent or lease issues. However, Carl’s Jr. may return to Idaho in the future, as the company is reportedly considering other locations. Despite the closure of the Boise location, customers can still enjoy Carl’s Jr.’s popular menu items at other locations in the area.
