Carnatic Music Event Fosters Artistic Innovation and Cultural Synthesis

The event commenced with a powerful group performance of Shri Ganapatini and Jagadanadakaraka, inviting music enthusiasts familiar with these ragas to participate. As a tribute to renowned Carnatic composer Thyagaraja Swamy, a teacher-led student rendition of Thyagaraja compositions followed. Eight groups of students graced the stage, each guided by their respective gurus and accompanied by supporting instrumentalists.

Sundaram Subramanian, President of Poona Sangeetha Sabha, emphasized the importance of the ‘Guru-Shishya Sammelanam’ initiative, which aims to organize quarterly events featuring lectures, demonstrations, and guided listening sessions to deepen the understanding of Carnatic music. He also highlighted the opportunities available for individuals to contribute to the Sabha through membership, financial support, or direct involvement in operational expenses such as logistics, hospitality, and more. By embracing these opportunities, the Sabha can continue to foster a thriving community for the preservation and promotion of Carnatic music.
