A Carnival cruise ship, Carnival Paradise, rescued 28 Cuban nationals who were stranded at sea on Sunday afternoon. The ship’s crew spotted the vessel in distress around 2:30 p.m. and turned the ship around to provide assistance. All 28 individuals were taken aboard, given food, and examined by the ship’s medical team. Carnival Paradise notified the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Key West and Roatan officials. The ship was scheduled to visit Roatan, Honduras, on Monday after departing from Tampa on Saturday for a five-day Caribbean voyage, according to CruiseMapper. The rescue operation was successful, and all 28 Cuban nationals are now safe and receiving the necessary care. Carnival Cruise Line has a long history of providing assistance to those in need at sea. In 2017, the company’s ship Carnival Glory rescued 47 Cuban migrants who were stranded at sea. In 2015, the company’s ship Carnival Dream rescued 11 Cuban migrants who were also stranded at sea.
