High School Baseball, Softball and Lacrosse Highlights: April 18

In baseball, Andy Choi and Jameson Bryant drove in two runs each to lead Cape Elizabeth to a 7-2 victory against visiting Yarmouth. Arlo Boutureira led the Freeport Falcons with two base hits and an RBI against Poland, while Jaiden Meehan collected three RBI and Shane Plummer had three hits for Lake Region in their win over Traip Academy. Sam Almy put the Greely Rangers ahead for good with a bases-clearing double in the first inning against Fryeburg Academy, and Caleb Vacchiano blasted two home runs and finished with five RBI as the Sacopee Valley Hawks downed Gray-New Gloucester. In softball, Addie Caiazzo had three hits, including a solo home run, and Kennedy Kimball pitched a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts as Windham beat Deering. Ruby Chase had three hits with four RBI, Sadie Armstrong and Ainsley McCrum combined on a no-hitter, and Portland handled Falmouth. Andrea DiMauro had two RBI, Annalise Soucy added two hits, and South Portland scored five runs in the sixth inning against Bonny Eagle. Izzy George pitched a four-hitter and Freeport went ahead for good with a two-run fifth inning against Poland, while McKayla Kortes tossed a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts to carry York over Wells. In boys’ lacrosse, Nathan Bolduc finished with three goals and three assists as Wells topped Traip Academy, and in girls’ lacrosse, Abby Trainor totaled seven goals and an assist as Windham defeated Lewiston.

Playoff Experience: A Double-Edged Sword for NHL Teams

While playoff experience can be beneficial, it is not a guarantee of success. The Rangers, who have a mix of experienced and inexperienced players, must learn from their past experiences and apply them to their current series against the Capitals.
