The Cleveland Cavaliers took a commanding 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference first-round series with a 96-86 victory over the visiting Orlando Magic on Monday night.
Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen paced the Cavaliers, with Mitchell scoring 23 points and grabbing eight rebounds, while Allen collected a personal-playoff-high 20 rebounds. Evan Mobley added 17 points, Allen had 16, and Darius Garland chipped in with 15 for Cleveland. Isaac Okoro also contributed with 10 points and four steals.
Paolo Banchero led the Magic with 21 points, while Franz Wagner added 18 points and seven rebounds. Gary Harris and Moritz Wagner also scored in double figures for Orlando.
After a lackluster start, the Magic came alive in the fourth quarter, ripping off 13 consecutive points. However, Mitchell and Mobley answered back with consecutive baskets to push the lead back to 15. The Magic would get no closer than nine points the rest of the way.
The Cavaliers shot 41.5% from the field, including 12-of-39 from three-point range. Orlando shot just 36.2% from the field and made only 9-of-35 from behind the arc.
Game 3 of the best-of-seven series will be played in Orlando on Thursday.
