The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken another step forward in its investigation into the NEET UG 2024 question paper leak case, filing a second charge sheet against six individuals. This charge sheet, filed before the Special Court for CBI cases in Patna, adds to the existing case against 13 accused who were charged in the first charge sheet filed on August 1st, 2024.
The six individuals named in the second charge sheet are:
1. Baldev Kumar alias Chintu
2. Sunny Kumar
3. Dr. Ahsanul Haque (Principal of Oasis School, Hazaribagh & City Coordinator for Hazaribagh)
4. Md. Imtiyaz Alam (Vice-Principal of Oasis School and Centre Superintendent)
5. Jamaluddin alias Jamal (Reporter for a newspaper in Hazaribagh)
6. Aman Kumar Singh
The investigation has uncovered a disturbing plot, revealing that Dr. Ahsanul Haque, the Principal of Oasis School, acting in his capacity as City Coordinator for the NEET UG 2024 exam, conspired with Md. Imtiyaz Alam, the Vice-Principal of the same school and the Centre Superintendent for the exam, to steal the NEET UG question paper. This collusion, the CBI alleges, involved other unnamed individuals as well.
The charge sheet is based on a multitude of provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy), Section 109 (Abetment), Section 409 (Criminal Breach of Trust), Section 420 (Cheating), Section 380 (Theft), Section 201 (Causing Disappearance of Evidence), and Section 411 (Dishonestly Receiving Stolen Property). Furthermore, serious charges under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) have been levied against the Oasis School’s Principal and Vice-Principal, due to their official positions as City Coordinator and Centre Superintendent, respectively, appointed by the NTA for conducting the NEET UG-2024 examination.
This latest charge sheet highlights the seriousness with which the CBI is tackling this case. It’s a reminder that the agency is diligently working to uncover the truth behind the NEET paper leak, and bringing those responsible to justice. The investigation continues, and the CBI has assured that they will continue to pursue all leads to ensure a fair and just outcome in this matter. With a total of 48 individuals arrested so far, and the CBI actively identifying beneficiary candidates, the impact of this paper leak on the education system in India is undeniable. The CBI has also shared the details of these beneficiaries with the National Testing Agency for necessary action.
