CBRE, a leading global real estate services and investment firm, has announced two key appointments aimed at strengthening its research capabilities and providing clients with enhanced market intelligence. Effective September 2024, Dr. Henry Chin has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer of Global Research, while Ada Choi has been named Head of Research for Asia Pacific.
Dr. Chin, who has been with CBRE since 2014, will relocate to the company’s global headquarters in Dallas to assume his new role. Reporting to Richard Barkham, Global Chief Economist and Global Head of Research, Dr. Chin will oversee the global operations of CBRE’s research platform, focusing on optimizing its functionality to achieve operational excellence. His responsibilities will also include differentiating CBRE’s research offerings from competitors and ensuring that research initiatives are closely aligned with the company’s overall business objectives. Through collaboration with executives worldwide, Dr. Chin will work towards creating a unified approach across CBRE’s global research network.
In addition to his new responsibilities, Dr. Chin will retain his current role as Global Head of Investor Research and continue to oversee Field Research and Econometric Advisors. His extensive background in research, analysis, and strategy, particularly across Asia Pacific and Europe, makes him well-equipped to lead CBRE’s research division on a global scale. Before joining CBRE, Dr. Chin held senior leadership roles in research and strategy at Prudential Financial Inc. and Deutsche Bank Group. Within CBRE, he has held key positions, including Head of Research in EMEA from 2019 to 2020, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s research strategies in the region.
Richard Barkham, Global Chief Economist and Global Head of Research, commented on Dr. Chin’s appointment, stating, “CBRE has a distinguished reputation for delivering world-class real estate data insights and analytics. Henry’s appointment will enhance our ability to provide integrated market intelligence, supported by close collaboration with our digital and marketing teams.”
In a related strategic move, CBRE has appointed Ada Choi as Head of Research for Asia Pacific, effective September 2, 2024. Ms. Choi will report to Dr. Chin and bring her extensive experience to her new role, leading the Asia Pacific Research team. Since joining CBRE in 2005, Ms. Choi has held various research leadership positions, including Head of Capital Markets Research for Asia Pacific and Head of Research for Greater China.
Dr. Chin expressed his confidence in Ms. Choi’s ability to lead the Asia Pacific Research team, stating, “Ada’s extensive experience positions her well to lead the Asia Pacific Research team. I am confident that under her leadership, the team will enhance its capabilities, maintain strong partnerships with the business, and deliver timely insights and strategies to our clients.”
These leadership transitions are part of CBRE’s broader strategy to strengthen its global research capabilities and continue delivering superior market intelligence to professionals and clients worldwide.
