CBSA Intercepts Firearm Suppressors, Seizes Dangerous Weapons and Drugs in British Columbia

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is committed to safeguarding Canadians by stopping and investigating smuggling attempts at the nation’s borders. In April 2024, CBSA officers at Vancouver International Airport’s Air Cargo Operations intercepted three firearm suppressors. This triggered an investigation by the CBSA’s Pacific Region Criminal Investigations Section.

On June 4, 2024, CBSA criminal investigators, assisted by the Sicamous RCMP, executed search warrants on the suspect’s vehicle and the boat where they were residing. The search resulted in the seizure of several items, including a dangerous firearm, prohibited devices, and drugs.

Nina Patel, Regional Director General, Canada Border Services Agency, Pacific Region stated, “The Canada Border Services Agency works hard to intercept undeclared firearms and firearm parts at our borders and investigates those who break Canada’s laws. The efforts of our officers and investigators, with support from the Sicamous RCMP, have removed a dangerous firearm, prohibited devices and drugs from this community.”
