A Journey Through Gaming’s Past: The CCA Show Returns in 2024
For those fascinated by the evolution of gaming, the CCA Show is an unmissable event. Organized annually by the charitable Casino Collectibles Association, this expo showcases an unparalleled array of relics and keepsakes that vividly narrate the history of casinos. These pieces not only epitomize the opulence of bygone gaming eras but also embody the nostalgia of times when casinos encouraged guests to take home branded memorabilia after a noteworthy visit.
The collection includes everything from gaming chips and tokens of various denominations to dice, slot cards, playing cards, matchbooks, ashtrays, menus, dinnerware, swizzle sticks, photographs, postcards, signage, and table felts—essentially any item a casino might brand. These artifacts tell a captivating story of the social and cultural significance of casinos throughout the ages.
The CCA Show is scheduled to take place from June 13 to June 15 at the South Point Casino’s Exhibit Hall C in Las Vegas. It represents the Casino Collectibles Association’s yearly educational initiative, supported by a passionate community of hundreds in the 501(c)(3) organization, all dedicated to collecting and conserving the artifacts of gaming history.
Immersive Gaming History Seminars
In addition to the captivating display of artifacts, the expo includes four complimentary gaming history seminars for attendees, hosted in the South Point Hotel and Casino’s Joshua Room, directly opposite the main expo venue. These seminars offer a unique opportunity to delve into specific aspects of gaming history, led by renowned experts in the field.
Celebrity Meet & Greet Gaming Education Series
The expo also features the Celebrity Meet & Greet Gaming Education Series, emphasizing the Casino Collectibles Association’s mission to educate about and preserve gaming history. Notable participants include Mark Hall-Patton, known as the “Beard of Knowledge” from the “Pawn Stars” TV show, and Susie Isaacs, a celebrated poker professional. These individuals will share their insights and experiences, offering attendees a firsthand account of the gaming industry’s evolution.
Auction of Rare Casino Memorabilia
Furthermore, a significant auction of casino chips and memorabilia will occur on June 13, starting at 7 PM in Exhibit Hall D at South Point. This event, open to the public, will feature 200 lots of rare and unique items, with the auction catalog accessible via the CCA website. This auction provides an opportunity to acquire a piece of gaming history for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
The CCA Show 2024 promises to be an unforgettable experience for gaming enthusiasts, historians, and collectors. With its captivating display of artifacts, informative seminars, and celebrity meet-and-greets, the expo offers a comprehensive and engaging journey through the rich history of casinos.
