Amidst an ongoing political debate over the alleged assault on Swati Maliwal, CCTV footage from May 13th has surfaced online, shedding light on an argument between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP and staff members at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence. Maliwal has accused Kejriwal’s personal assistant, Bibhav Kumar, of kicking and slapping her multiple times on that night.
Reacting to the viral CCTV footage, Maliwal stated that the truth will emerge through an investigation into the footage from the Delhi CM’s residence and drawing room. She further highlighted the efforts of a “political hitman” to save himself by posting videos without context. Maliwal expressed confidence that the truth will be revealed through a thorough examination of the CCTV footage.
The CCTV footage, not independently verified by Live Mint, captures Maliwal engaged in a heated argument with Kejriwal’s residence staff, who requested her to leave. She can also be heard asking officials to connect her with the Civil Lines police station SHO and the DCP.
Following the incident, the Delhi Police registered an FIR naming Kumar as an accused in the case. Maliwal expressed hope that appropriate action will be taken based on her statement to the police, emphasizing the severity of the assault she experienced.
