NBA legend Charles Barkley has given his full backing to the Boston Celtics to win the NBA title this season.
“The Celtics are going to win the world championship. They’ve been the best team in the NBA all year,” Barkley confidently stated on a Sunday edition of TNT’s “Inside the NBA.”
Barkley, a Hall of Famer and longtime analyst, believes that the Celtics are the only team in the league that can compete with Denver in the Western Conference.
“They’re going to be tough to beat. They’ve got everything you need,” Barkley explained. “I’ll be totally, totally shocked if they don’t win the championship.”
Barkley admits that the Celtics have a couple of flaws, including their over-reliance on three-point shooting and occasional carelessness with the ball, but he believes these are correctable issues.
Barkley also praised the Celtics’ offseason decision to trade for Jrue Holiday, who he believes is a great quarterback for the team’s playmakers like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, and Derrick White.
The Celtics took a 1-0 lead in their playoff series against the Miami Heat on Tuesday night, with Game 2 set for Wednesday at TD Garden.
