Centers Health Care’s ‘Care That Moves You’ Program Encourages Physical Activity and Holistic Health

Centers Health Care, the largest and most comprehensive post-acute health care provider in the Northeast, has successfully completed its second annual ‘Care That Moves You’ program. This initiative, launched in July 2024, encouraged physical activity and social interaction among residents, employees, families, and communities across its 45 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities.

The program’s success is evident in the over 2,500 minutes of movement generated throughout August. ‘Care That Moves You’ emphasizes a holistic approach to health and well-being, recognizing the crucial role that movement plays in improving overall health and quality of life. To further underscore this commitment, Centers Health Care dedicated a special ‘Care That Moves You Day’ to coincide with National Senior Citizens Day on August 21st.

NBC’s New York Live featured the celebration, highlighting the system’s focus on movement and the programs designed to help individuals stay active and feel healthier. Evan Stein, Assistant Director of Rehabilitation, spoke about the positive impact of the program on residents and staff alike.

Kenny Rozenberg, CEO of Centers Health Care, emphasizes the program’s alignment with the company’s mission of delivering exceptional post-acute care. ‘Movement is a cornerstone of our care at Centers Health Care,’ he says. ‘For 27 years, our mission has been delivering exceptional post-acute care, whether it’s short-term rehabilitation or long-term support. In the two years that we’ve hosted ‘Care That Moves You,’ we’ve seen an increase in mobility and overall health and wellbeing – not just for residents, but for our team members as well – and that’s truly phenomenal.’

Recognizing the vital role of caregivers, Centers Health Care prioritizes their well-being too. Mr. Rozenberg recently penned an article in Modern Healthcare, highlighting the importance of training and supporting long-term caregivers. The program provides a variety of activities, from outdoor luaus and 50’s-themed carnivals to group Zumba and exercise sessions, ensuring that residents have fun while staying active.

‘Our goal is to continue growing our summer program, while encouraging these healthy habits all year long,’ Mr. Rozenberg adds. The program’s impact is evident in the increased mobility and improved well-being observed among residents and staff.
