Chamari Athapaththu to Lead Sri Lanka at Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

Sri Lanka has announced its squad for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to take place from October 3rd to 20th in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Leading the charge for Sri Lanka will be the experienced captain, Chamari Athapaththu.

The squad features a welcome return for all-rounder Inoka Ranaweera. Ranaweera, with over 12 years of experience under her belt, last featured for Sri Lanka during the Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in 2024. Her inclusion adds valuable depth and versatility to the team.

Sri Lanka has been on a roll over the past 18 months, achieving significant milestones in their journey. They have secured series victories against both England and South Africa for the first time ever in any format. Adding to their recent success, Sri Lanka also clinched their inaugural Women’s Asia Cup title in July 2023.

Sri Lanka will commence their T20 World Cup campaign with a clash against Pakistan on October 3rd.
