OpenAI Enhances Free ChatGPT Version with Custom GPTs and GPT-4o Features
The free version of ChatGPT has undergone a significant upgrade, unlocking features that were previously exclusive to the paid ChatGPT Plus tier. One of the most significant additions is the introduction of custom GPTs, which empower users to create tailored versions of ChatGPT for specific tasks.
These custom GPTs can be personalized with additional knowledge and customized prompts, making them highly versatile tools. Users can leverage them for a wide range of applications, including travel guides, song composition, presentation creation, image generation, and countless other possibilities.
In addition to custom GPTs, the free version of ChatGPT now has access to certain features of GPT-4o. These features include the ability to send photos for analysis and translation, a significant advancement in the model’s image understanding capabilities.
Furthermore, free users can now upload files for ChatGPT to summarize, translate, or even analyze. This functionality allows users to send spreadsheets, for example, and request the extraction and visualization of specific data points.
While these features offer enhanced capabilities, it’s important to note that many of them are marked as “limited” for free users. As a result, users may encounter usage limits, after which they will revert to the GPT-3.5 language model.
Despite these limitations, the upgrade to the free version of ChatGPT represents a significant step forward, bringing it closer to the capabilities of the paid tier while expanding its accessibility and utility for a wider range of users.
