Demi Di Matteo, the son of Chelsea legend Roberto Di Matteo, is carving his own path in sports. Despite not possessing his father’s footballing genes, Demi is shining in the world of college golf. At just 22 years old, he is a college golf star in the United States, excelling both on the course and in the classroom.
Demi plays for the Furman Paladins golf team at Furman University in South Carolina. He has maintained a +1 handicap since joining the team in 2020 and has consistently performed well. In addition to his golfing abilities, Demi has also been recognized for his academic achievements, earning a spot on the SoCon Academic Honor Roll every year since enrolling.
While Demi’s golf career takes him far from Stamford Bridge, where his father Roberto made his mark as a Chelsea player and manager, the family resemblance is undeniable. Roberto Di Matteo, now 53, played over 100 games for Chelsea from 1996 to 2002 and later managed the club for 42 games in 2012. During his brief managerial stint, he etched his name in Chelsea history by leading the Blues to their first-ever Champions League trophy.
Although Roberto Di Matteo is known primarily for his footballing career, he is no stranger to golf. Recently, he joined fellow Chelsea legends John Terry, Gianfranco Zola, and Carlo Cudicini for a round of golf, swapping their football boots for golf clubs.
