Chelsea will be facing a tough opponent in the Europa Conference League playoffs as they are set to play against Switzerland’s Servette FC. The Blues will host the first leg at Stamford Bridge on August 22nd, with the second leg taking place in Switzerland a week later.
Servette’s journey to the playoffs was not easy. They were eliminated from the Europa League’s third qualifying round after losing to Braga. The tie was goalless after the first leg in Portugal, but Braga ultimately prevailed with a 2-1 victory at the Stade de Geneve in the second leg. This defeat dropped Servette into the Conference League playoff round, where they will now face Chelsea.
Servette, who reached the last 16 of the Conference League last season, are a formidable opponent. They also won the Swiss Cup in June, their first major trophy in 23 years.
Other notable playoff ties include Fiorentina facing Puskas Akademia from Hungary, and Real Betis playing against Kryvbas from Ukraine.
