A chemical leak at an engineering section of Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Thursday sickened at least 20 people. The leak occurred at a facility where three companies were working. Local rescue officer Muhammad Nur Khairi Samsumin stated that six individuals received treatment at the air disaster unit, 13 were transported to a medical center, and one was transferred to a public hospital. The affected individuals suffered dizziness after exposure to the leak.
Emergency services and health department officials were dispatched to the scene. The incident did not disrupt air travel at the airport. The statement did not disclose the cause of the leak, and investigations are likely ongoing to determine the source of the chemical and the extent of the environmental impact.
