Chengdu FBO Launches, Driving Business Aviation and Low-Altitude Economy in Southwest China

Chengdu FBO, a new facility dedicated to business aviation and the low-altitude economy, commenced operations on June 28, 2024, marking a significant milestone for the Southwest region of China. The facility, a collaborative effort between Sichuan Airport Group Aviation Ground Services Co., Ltd., and Sino Jet (Beijing) Co., Ltd., is strategically located at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, spanning 5,500 square meters with 20 dedicated parking spots.

Chengdu FBO offers comprehensive one-stop services for business jets, positioning itself as a central hub for the burgeoning low-altitude economy. Passengers traveling by business jets or high-end commercial aircraft can seamlessly transfer to eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) and other low-altitude aircraft, significantly enhancing travel efficiency. This integration of business aviation and low-altitude transportation is a key innovation driving the development of industries such as aviation tourism, regional passenger transport, and general aviation services.

The low-altitude economy is a rapidly growing sector globally, with China at the forefront. By the end of 2023, China had 689 general aviation companies, 3,173 registered general aviation aircraft, and 451 general aviation airports, highlighting the significant investment and growth in this area. The low-altitude economy in China exceeded RMB 500 billion in 2023 and is expected to reach RMB 2 trillion by 2030.

Chengdu FBO recognizes the potential of this burgeoning market. By collaborating with industry leaders like AEROFUGIA, the facility has pioneered an innovative model that combines business aviation with the low-altitude economy. This approach not only offers business jet clients more convenient and high-quality services but also injects new vitality into urban transportation in the Southwest region.

During the launch ceremony, Chengdu FBO hosted seminars on business aviation and low-altitude economic development, collaborating with the Asian Business Aviation Association, T-CAPITAL, and the Institute for Global Private Equity, Tsinghua University. These discussions charted future development directions and injected fresh vitality into Chengdu FBO’s smart travel model.

Beyond its functional purpose, Chengdu FBO integrates various formats, such as art exhibitions and upscale dining, catering to the refined lifestyle needs of business jet users and creating a unique high-end living space. This approach enhances the overall service quality of FBO and contributes to the regional economy’s prosperity.

With the official operation of Chengdu FBO, the Southwest region enters a new stage of development in business aviation and the low-altitude economy. The facility, with its outstanding facilities, professional service team, and innovative business models, is poised to play a key role in driving urban transportation transformation.

Looking ahead, Chengdu FBO aims to continue leading in business aviation and the low-altitude economy, fostering economic prosperity and expansion. This innovative “business aviation + low-altitude economy” model will provide valuable experiences and insights for intelligent travel on both national and global scales.
