Chennai Super Kings host Lucknow Super Giants in a crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Chepauk Stadium.
LSG is brimming with confidence after a commanding victory over CSK in their previous encounter, where KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock’s record-breaking opening partnership of 134 runs guided them towards an easy chase.
In contrast, CSK has been inconsistent away from home this season, but their record at the Chepauk Stadium has been exceptional. They will be eager to maintain their dominance at home and make the most of their upcoming three consecutive matches in Chennai.
CSK’s batting has heavily relied on skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube. Their struggles against LSG in the previous match resulted in a slow start and difficulties in the middle overs. For LSG, a return for Mayank Yadav is unlikely for this match. Pacers Mohsin Khan and Yash Thakur initially restricted CSK but faced challenges when Dhoni came to the crease. They will need to improve in this area. Matt Henry had a wicketless debut for LSG and will be keen to prove his worth.
In the spin department, Krunal Pandya’s wickets made a significant difference in the middle overs. He will be crucial once again against CSK, while Ravi Bishnoi will aim to bounce back from his disappointing outing against Ali.
