Chasing a target of 157, the Spartans struggled to get going against the left-arm spin duo of Rahil Shah and M. Silambarasan. The Salem side’s openers, R. Kavin and S. Abishiek, failed to provide a solid start, leaving them struggling at 22 runs in the PowerPlay. The middle overs saw them crawl to a meager 42 for two before Muhammed Adnan Khan (31) injected some hope with a blistering innings.
Adnan Khan launched a fierce assault on spinner B. Surya, hitting him for three sixes and a four in the 13th over. His efforts were bolstered by a crucial partnership with Robin Bist (36), who helped the Spartans to put up a fight. Abhishek Tanwar’s last-over heroics proved to be the game-changer. Tanwar smashed four sixes off Harish Kumar in the 20th over, scoring an unbeaten 26 runs in just eight balls. His aggressive approach proved vital in the end, giving Super Gillies a crucial lead.
