Chess Tournament with Rs 3 Lakh Prize Money to Be Held in Mumbai

The SMCA Chess School will host the All India FIDE Rating Chess Tournament from October 11th to 16th, bringing together approximately 220 players from across the country. This prestigious tournament boasts a prize money of Rs 3 lakh, making it a highly coveted event for aspiring and seasoned chess players alike.

International Master Vikramaditya Kulkarni, with an impressive Elo rating of 2185, will lead the pack as the top seed. The tournament has garnered recognition from prominent organizations, including the All India Chess Federation (AICF), FIDE, Mumbai City District Chess Association (MCDCA), and Maharashtra Chess Association (MCA), ensuring a high level of competition and professionalism.

Durga Nagesh Guttula, the tournament director and co-founder of SMCA Chess School, expressed his enthusiasm: “By providing world-class facilities and offering live access to top matches, we aim to inspire more people to embrace chess and nurture budding talent.” International Arbiter PB Bhilare will oversee the tournament as Chief Arbiter, while IA Sandesh Nagarnaik will assist him as his deputy.
