The Chicago Cubs continued their hot start to the season with a 6-4 victory over the Houston Astros on Tuesday at Wrigley Field. It was the Cubs’ fourth straight win, and they now sit atop the NL Central with a 13-7 record.
Mike Tauchman gave the Cubs an early lead with a 3-run home run in the first inning off Astros starter J.P. France. Cody Bellinger followed with a 2-run shot of his own later in the inning, giving the Cubs a 5-0 lead.
Jordan Wicks turned in another strong outing for the Cubs, allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings. The bullpen then held on for the save, with Yency Almonte getting the final 3 outs.
The Cubs have now won 6 of their last 7 games and are starting to look like a contender in the NL Central. They will look to continue their winning ways when they host the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.
