Hosted by the China Shanghai International Arts Festival and co-organized by Branding Shanghai, CHINA FOCUS brings a unique blend of tradition and modern innovation to the international stage.

This year’s edition presented a captivating array of eight exceptional Chinese theatre productions. Audiences at the Edinburgh International Festival and Edinburgh Festival Fringe were treated to performances like Wu Man’s solo act and productions like *Riding Alone*, *Look at Them!*, *Forging the Swords*, *Hi, Sid!*, *Hu Opera Love Bridge*, *Ancient Ship*, and *Beautiful Earth The Blue Bird*. These productions drew inspiration from classic Chinese myths and literary masterpieces, showcasing the rich diversity and vibrant energy of Chinese culture. They also showcased a unique blend of Chinese and Western influences, captivating audiences from around the world.

Since its inception in 2017, CHINA FOCUS has been dedicated to promoting Chinese heritage and cultural products globally. This initiative highlights the excellence of Chinese theatre with high-caliber performances in Edinburgh, each reflecting a modern interpretation that expertly combines traditional elements with contemporary creativity.

On August 16, the official CHINA FOCUS reception brought together esteemed guests, including representatives from the UK Department for Business and Trade, British Council, Scottish Government, Scottish Development International, Festivals Edinburgh, and the Chinese Consulate General in Edinburgh, alongside members of The Center for China Shanghai International Arts Festival and the Shanghai Huangpu District Government. Following the reception, attendees enjoyed a performance of *Ancient Ship* by the CSIAF Youth Art Troupe.
