China National Space Administration has announced the upcoming launch of a lunar probe, Chang’e-6, on Friday. This mission holds immense significance, as it will be the first attempt to collect samples from the far side of the moon. The launch is scheduled to take place from the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan Province. Notably, this mission will also carry Pakistan’s miniature satellite, iCube-QAMAR, as part of the payload. The iCube-Q satellite, developed in collaboration with Shanghai University, is equipped with two optical cameras designed to capture images of the lunar surface. The mission serves as a testament to the growing collaboration in space exploration between China and Pakistan. As the world eagerly awaits this historic launch, Pakistan’s Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has expressed pride in its participation in the mission. The organization’s logo is prominently featured on China’s powerful Long March 5 rocket. Pakistan’s maiden moon mission is scheduled for takeoff on Friday at 12:50 pm Pakistan time (1:20 pm IST). The Institute of Space Technology in Islamabad has confirmed this launch time. This momentous occasion underscores Pakistan’s significant strides in space exploration and its commitment to scientific advancement.
