Love Island star Chloe Burrows has lifted the lid on a secret mission to test if faking a romance could boost her earnings. The reality star, who rose to fame on the ITV2 dating show in 2021, teamed up with a paparazzo to stage photos with Too Hot to Handle star Harry Johnson. Despite never having met before, the pair embarked on a series of staged outings, including a romantic dog walk, dinner at a restaurant, and leaving a hotel together. Their plan worked, with the photos quickly appearing in publications and across social media. This led to clothing brands worn in the shots getting in touch, and monetary offers for interviews coming in. Celebrity agent Dave Read, who manages celebrities including Joey Essex and Hannah Elizabeth, informed the pair that they could potentially earn a quarter of a million pounds in a year through pap shots of them house-hunting, engagement ring shopping, and brand deals. However, despite the potential earnings, Burrows decided against continuing the fake relationship due to concerns about her mental health. She explained that she often checks what people say about her online, and if she sees something bad, it can ruin her whole day. Following her breakup with Love Island co-star Toby Aromolaran, Burrows has tried to be more private with her love life. However, she acknowledges that the year-long relationship has helped her reach this point in her career. Burrows currently has a podcast called Chloe vs The World, regularly appears on radio and TV, and is often flown around the world with brands. She recently attended Coachella with White Fox clothing. The reality star questioned whether the fame and public scrutiny that comes with being in a high-profile relationship is worth it. Burrows’s documentary, UNTOLD: Love in the Limelight, is available to stream on Channel 4.
