Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger have faced backlash for demolishing a historic $12.5 million home in Los Angeles. The couple purchased the Zimmerman House, designed by renowned architect Craig Ellwood, last year but demolished it within days. In its place, an entirely new mansion is being constructed.
Architecture experts and enthusiasts have criticized Pratt and Schwarzenegger for knocking down the architectural masterpiece, described as a “noteworthy example of Modernist design from this era.” Designers and TV writers have expressed sadness and disbelief, questioning the couple’s decision to destroy such an iconic structure.
Pratt and Schwarzenegger reportedly moved to the area to live closer to Schwarzenegger’s mother, Maria Shriver. Their new home, designed by LA-based architect Ken Ungar, is still under construction but is expected to be a two-story farmhouse-style mansion with a swimming pool, pool house, and poolside cabana.
