Christian Horner and Geri Halliwell’s Netflix Reality Show Rumors Debunked by Red Bull Principal

Reports earlier this month suggested the possibility of a Netflix reality show centered around Christian Horner and Geri Halliwell’s life. A section of the English media claimed the couple was in discussions with the streaming giant regarding the project. However, Red Bull team principal Horner has now dismissed these rumors, expressing confusion over the origin of the news.

Speaking during the Chinese GP weekend, Horner denied the claims: “There is no documentary in preparation about our family. Netflix already does enough things. I really don’t know where this news came from.”

The speculation stemmed from a report in The Mirror, which suggested that Netflix had approached the couple with a format similar to a show featuring Victoria Beckham and her husband, David Beckham. The latter show reportedly attempted to portray the normalcy of the couple’s life after allegations of an extra-marital affair against the former soccer star.

The rumors about a Horner-Halliwell show emerged amidst a challenging period for the couple. Horner faced allegations of “inappropriate behavior” with a female employee of Red Bull Racing, prompting an investigation by the team’s parent company, Red Bull GmbH. Although the grievance was later dismissed following an independent legal review, the controversy continued to make headlines.

Anonymous emails containing alleged leaked chats between the complainant and Horner were circulated to key figures in Formula 1, including FIA and F1 officials, and members of the media. Reports also surfaced claiming payment of $1.1 million to the complainant as severance pay.

While the controversy has subsided, it has left a lasting impact on Red Bull Racing. Jos Verstappen, father of Max Verstappen, openly called for Horner’s removal, and speculation arose over a possible exodus of key figures, including CTO Adrian Newey. Newey has reportedly received offers from teams like Aston Martin and Ferrari, a team he has expressed regret over never working with.

As for drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso are among those linked to potential moves to Ferrari in the coming years. Hamilton has expressed a desire to work with Ferrari at some point in his career, while Alonso has a long-standing connection to the Italian team.
