Christina Applegate’s recent podcast episode revealed a surprising side effect of a severe stomach bug she contracted from contaminated food. The intense symptoms, including dizziness and nausea, forced her to wear diapers for precaution, a practice she had adopted in the past due to her multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis. Applegate attributed the infection to eating a tainted salad from a restaurant she frequented, causing her to feel sick and unable to function for three weeks. Despite her initial reluctance to undergo a stool sample test, she eventually discovered she had contracted sapovirus, a gastrointestinal infection caused by consuming fecal matter. The condition worsens Applegate’s MS symptoms, making it difficult to reach the bathroom in time. Co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler expressed empathy, acknowledging that similar issues are prevalent among those with MS.
