The International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) has taken a bold step in recognizing the vital connection between tourism and journalism by launching the prestigious CIFFT Tourism Press Award. This new accolade, set to be presented at the World Tourism Film Awards in Valencia, Spain, this November, aims to spotlight the very best tourism video as selected by an international jury of esteemed travel journalists.
The Tourism Press Award goes beyond simply celebrating exceptional storytelling and cinematography within the tourism industry. It acknowledges the powerful influence of travel journalism in shaping global travel narratives. By bringing together professionals from both the tourism and media sectors, CIFFT is celebrating productions that inspire and captivate audiences worldwide.
This year, a remarkable 66 tourism videos from 23 countries are vying for the coveted award. Each entry is also competing in the CIFFT Circuit – a global competition for tourism videos and campaigns, supported by organizations like the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the European Travel Commission (ETC). The competition is judged by an elite panel of over 80 travel journalists representing leading media outlets from across the globe, including Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, China, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, the United States, and many more.
“This award marks a significant milestone for CIFFT,” stated Alexander V. Kammel, Director of CIFFT. “By bridging the journalistic community, the audiovisual sector, and tourism industry leaders, we are celebrating exceptional storytelling. This initiative reinforces our commitment to driving innovation and excellence in tourism promotion.”
The winner of the Tourism Press Award will be announced at the World Tourism Film Awards, which will also showcase the most awarded videos from the CIFFT Circuit 2024 and recognize the top-ranked films in the CIFFT Rankings. The event is proudly supported by Visit Valencia and the Region of Valencia.
