Circle to Search Feature on Pixel to Gain Screenshot Capture Capability

The popular Circle to Search AI feature is expanding its capabilities. Initially launched as a Galaxy S24 exclusive, it quickly made its way to the Pixel 8 and has since been extended to other Samsung Galaxy devices. Now, it’s set to gain a new functionality: screenshot capture.

Discovered by AssembleDebug, the Circle to Search screen capture code suggests that users will be able to circle an area on their phone screen to select it for capture. Handles will allow for precise resizing and refinement of the selection, which was a limitation in the current version of Circle to Search.

Two buttons will appear over the selected area: “Copy Image” and “Share Image.” The “Share Image” option is particularly notable, as it implies that sharing screenshots will follow the same seamless process as Circle to Search results, allowing users to share without leaving the current app.

This new feature addresses concerns raised during the initial launch of Circle to Search, which focused primarily on e-commerce results. The addition of screenshot sharing expands its use cases and makes it a more versatile tool.

Developed jointly by Google and Samsung, Circle to Search showcases the collaboration between the two companies in developing innovative AI-powered features for Android devices. As Samsung and Google continue to enhance Circle to Search and other Galaxy AI tools, it’s evident that AI is playing an increasingly important role in the smartphone landscape.
