CITGO Caring For Our Coast Grants Empower Environmental Organizations Across the Gulf

CITGO’s Caring For Our Coast initiative is celebrating a decade of environmental protection, conservation, and restoration by awarding an additional $1 million in grants to 17 environmental organizations. These organizations are located throughout the Gulf Coast region and in Lemont, Illinois, where CITGO has operations.

The grants are designed to support a wide range of environmental, conservation, and community-based projects. This funding will help sustain long-term environmental stewardship, conservation efforts, and ecosystem restoration initiatives.

“Caring for our environment for future generations is everyone’s responsibility, so it’s vitally important to partner with organizations that share similar values and commitment,” said Kresha Sivinski, CITGO Vice President Human Resources and Support Services. “That’s why we are recognizing and awarding these organizations with additional funding, as they are leading the way in protecting and restoring our delicate coastal environments and inland habitats.”

Here are some of the impactful projects being funded by CITGO Caring For Our Coast:

Artist Boat:

This Houston-based organization will use the grant to support their Coastal Heritage Preserve project, which focuses on community-based restoration and conservation efforts to protect ecosystems and wildlife.

Buffalo Bayou Partnership:

This organization will use the grant to fund their Waterway Cleanup Program, engaging volunteers in cleanups and utilizing innovative trash collection methods to protect the Buffalo Bayou ecosystem.

Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana:

The grant will support the Chenier Region Community Convenings project, prioritizing restoration and protection of Louisiana’s coast through science-based policies, community-based restoration, environmental education, and volunteer efforts.

Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program:

This Corpus Christi-based organization will use the grant to fund its Protecting Shorelines, Removing Marine Debris, and Engaging the Public program, which uses volunteer events and habitat restoration to enhance coastal resilience and reduce erosion.

Coastal Bend Bays Foundation:

The grant will support their Community Conservation & Preservation Program, engaging the local community in environmental education and conservation efforts through events and forums.

These are just a few examples of the many impactful projects being supported by CITGO Caring For Our Coast. The initiative is a testament to CITGO’s commitment to environmental stewardship and their dedication to making a lasting positive impact on the communities they serve.
