A Citigroup managing director, Ardith Lindsey, has filed an amended lawsuit alleging a pervasive culture of sexual harassment and gender discrimination at the bank. Lindsey, who worked as Americas head of electronic sales trading, claims that her supervisor, Mani Singh, subjected her to violent threats and abuse after she ended their relationship.
Lindsey alleges that Singh threatened to burn her down and harm her family if she resisted his advances. She also claims that the bank ignored numerous red flags about Singh’s conduct and promoted him instead of protecting her and other women. As a result of the abuse, Lindsey is now on leave from the bank and has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and memory loss.
Lindsey’s lawsuit comes amid a wave of allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination on Wall Street. Wells Fargo was recently accused of sex discrimination in a lawsuit filed by a bond saleswoman, and Goldman Sachs agreed to pay $215 million to settle a class action alleging widespread bias against women in pay and promotions.
Citigroup has not yet responded to the allegations. Singh did not immediately respond to a voicemail seeking comment.
