Sony Pictures Entertainment has joined forces with Hasbro Entertainment to bring the classic board game Clue to the big and small screens. The collaboration will result in the development of both a feature film and a television series based on the beloved game of mystery and deduction.
Clue, also known as Cluedo outside the United States, has captivated players for decades with its engaging gameplay that challenges them to solve a murder mystery. Players must determine the murderer, the location of the crime, and the weapon used, adding an element of suspense and intrigue to each game.
The film and television adaptations of Clue will be overseen by Hasbro’s heads of film and television, Zev Foreman and Gabriel Marano, who expressed great enthusiasm for the partnership with Sony. They believe that Sony’s expertise in creating compelling and culturally significant film and television content will translate well to the adaptation of Clue.
The development teams at Sony, led by Nicole Brown and Katherine Pope, will be responsible for reimagining the classic game’s narrative for modern audiences. While specific release dates for the film and TV adaptations have not yet been announced, the projects are currently in the developmental stages, with Hasbro and Sony working closely together to bring them to fruition.
The move to adapt Clue into film and television is part of Hasbro’s broader strategy to expand its iconic games into various media formats, with an upcoming film adaptation of Monopoly also in the works.
