Cole Palmer, the PFA’s Young Player of the Year, has made it clear that his primary focus is on winning trophies with Chelsea, rather than individual accolades. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder had a stellar first season with the Blues, finding the back of the net 22 times in 34 Premier League appearances. Despite setting the Players’ Player of the Year trophy as his phone wallpaper for motivation throughout last season, Palmer’s sights are firmly set on collective success.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Palmer expressed his excitement about the season ahead. “The (last) whole season was a great season for me personally and hopefully, we can kick on this season,” he said. “I want to win trophies with Chelsea, that is the main thing, and then the individual awards are nice… It’s on me to produce for Chelsea and that’s what I plan to do.”
Palmer, who recently extended his contract with Chelsea until 2033, joins a distinguished group of players to win the PFA’s Young Player of the Year award. He follows in the footsteps of fellow Chelsea stars Scott Parker and Eden Hazard, both of whom achieved the same feat in previous seasons.
With his unwavering focus on team success and his impressive performances, Palmer is poised to be a key player for Chelsea as they strive for silverware in the upcoming season.
