A tragic incident unfolded in Faridabad, Haryana, on Monday afternoon, leaving a 19-year-old college student dead. The victim, identified as Arun, was shot and killed at his home by an unknown assailant. Arun was a second-year architecture student at Deenbandhu College in Rohtak’s Sampla and had returned home on Sunday evening to celebrate Rakshabandhan, the festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters.
According to police, the incident occurred in the Adarsh Nagar area of Faridabad. The accused, accompanied by an accomplice, arrived at the victim’s residence on a motorcycle. While one of the men stayed outside, the other entered the house. He reportedly insisted that Arun come outside, but Arun refused. During the ensuing confrontation, the man allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot Arun in the chest.
Despite being gravely wounded, Arun managed to run inside and lay down on his bed, raising an alarm. However, the attackers fled the scene on their motorcycle. Arun was rushed to a nearby private hospital in critical condition, but doctors pronounced him dead.
Based on a complaint filed by Arun’s brother, Ajay Kumar, a murder case has been registered against the accused under sections 103 (1) (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act. The police have launched an investigation and are actively using CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects.
Ajay Kumar stated in his complaint that the family had been residing in Adarsh Nagar since 1997. He recounted that the incident took place around 12 pm while his parents were away at the market. He further alleged that the two attackers arrived on a motorcycle, with one waiting outside while the other entered the house. The intruder’s demand for Arun to step outside was met with refusal, leading to the shooting.
The Adarsh Nagar SHO, Amit Kumar, confirmed that the police have handed over the body to Arun’s family after the postmortem. He assured that the investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the crime branch team. The police are confident that the accused will be apprehended soon. This incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the growing concern over crime in the area. The police are urging anyone with information about the suspects to come forward and assist in the investigation.
