Colorado Woman Rescued After Being Trapped Under Crashed Truck for Hours

Rachael Hammack, a 27-year-old Colorado woman, is recovering after being pinned underneath her crashed truck for several hours.

Hammack was driving home from work last Tuesday around 2:30 a.m. when her truck veered off the road, rolled multiple times, and came to a rest on a field next to a golf course. The truck was hidden from view, and Hammack was trapped and unable to call for help.

Several hours later that same morning, Steve Abraham, a golf course superintendent, came upon the crash scene. He found Hammack with her legs pinned and her body stuck in a barbed wire fence. Abraham and several of his co-workers assisted Hammack while they waited for first responders to arrive.

Paramedics took Hammack to a nearby hospital, where she was placed in a medically induced coma. She suffered a broken pelvis, a broken nose and a fractured vertebrae. She also received a large laceration on her head.

Hammack underwent surgery last Friday and is expected to recover. Her boyfriend and parents have been by her side throughout her ordeal.
