Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition and Congress MP, on Tuesday, July 16, condemned the recent terrorist encounter in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, that resulted in the death of four Indian Army personnel, including a Major. He held the BJP-led NDA government responsible for repeated security lapses and demanded strict action against the culprits.
In a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), Gandhi expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers and called the incidents ‘extremely sad and worrying.’ He pointed out the alarming rise in terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, attributing them to the BJP’s ‘wrong policies.’
Following the incident, the Congress party launched a scathing attack on the Central government with a social media post titled ‘Modi’s Report Card.’ The post highlighted that within 38 days of Prime Minister Modi’s third term, nine terrorist attacks had taken place, resulting in the deaths of 12 soldiers and 10 civilians, along with injuries to 13 soldiers and 44 civilians.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, in another post on X, offered his condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers, while also expressing concern over the government’s inaction. He accused the Modi government of acting as if everything is ‘business as usual,’ despite the escalating security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Kharge emphasized the need for collective action against cross-border terrorism and asserted that the Congress stands with the Indian Armed Forces.
The Congress’s criticism comes amidst growing concerns over the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The party has repeatedly highlighted the need for a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism and address the root causes of unrest in the region.
