Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has raised concerns about the stability of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, claiming that it may collapse at any time. According to a PTI report, Kharge stated that the government was elected as a minority and therefore faces potential instability. He further argued that the NDA government was formed by mistake, questioning its legitimacy.
Kharge’s remarks have drawn criticism from JD(U) leader KC Tyagi, who accused him of creating an atmosphere of anarchy and disbelief. Meanwhile, Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Ramdas Athawale have asserted that the NDA government has a clear majority in Lok Sabha, dismissing Kharge’s claims. They have advised Kharge to fulfill his role as an opposition leader.
Kharge’s statement comes in the context of the recent Lok Sabha elections, in which the BJP emerged as the single largest party with 240 seats. The opposition’s INDIA bloc secured 233 seats, with the Congress Party winning 99 seats. Following the poll results earlier this month, Kharge had indicated that the INDIA bloc partners would take steps to challenge the BJP government’s rule.
The ongoing debate reflects the political dynamics in India, with the opposition expressing its concerns and the ruling government defending its position. As the situation evolves, it remains to be seen how these developments will impact the political landscape in the country.
