The Congress party on Wednesday released its final lists of candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, bringing its total number of nominees to 86 out of 90 seats. The third list comprised 40 names, while the fourth list included five candidates. The party has strategically chosen a diverse array of individuals, combining experienced leaders with fresh faces, hoping to resonate with the electorate.
One of the most prominent names in the third list is Aditya Surjewala, the son of senior party leader Randeep Surjewala. Aditya will contest from the Kaithal seat, following in his father’s footsteps, who previously served as an MLA from the same constituency. Other notable names in the list include former deputy chief minister Chander Mohan, who will contest from Panchkula, and former minister Nirmal Singh, who will compete in Ambala City.
The fourth list featured a mix of candidates, including Parimal Pari from Ambala Cantt, Sachin Kundu from Panipat Rural, and Satbir Dublain from Narwana. The Congress has now declared candidates for all but four seats in the upcoming elections. The remaining seats, Sohna, Bhiwani, Narnaund, and Uklana, will see nominations finalized on September 12.
The Congress’s strategy for the Haryana elections involves fielding candidates with strong local connections and diverse backgrounds. The party has also included family members of prominent leaders, hoping to capitalize on established political networks. This approach reflects the party’s efforts to appeal to a wide range of voters and secure a victory against the ruling BJP and the increasingly influential Aam Aadmi Party.
The Congress’s rival, the BJP, has already announced its candidates for all 90 seats. The party released its first list on September 4, followed by its second list on September 10 and its third list on September 12. The BJP’s candidate selection reflects its focus on maintaining its current political dominance in the state.
The Haryana Assembly elections will be held on October 5, with the results declared later that month. This crucial election will be a test of the Congress’s ability to regain lost ground in the state and challenge the BJP’s hold on power. With the final candidate lists released, the political landscape of Haryana has become even more dynamic, setting the stage for an intense and closely watched election campaign.
