Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accused the Congress of disregarding the Constitution by attempting to implement Muslim reservations in Andhra Pradesh and across the country. Modi alleged that between 2004 and 2010, the Congress government made four attempts to introduce Muslim reservations in Andhra Pradesh, but legal obstacles and Supreme Court rulings prevented them. In 2011, the Congress allegedly planned to implement Muslim reservations nationwide, infringing upon the rights of SC/ST and OBC communities in pursuit of vote-bank politics.
Modi further criticized the Congress manifesto, claiming that it proposed to redistribute people’s wealth to specific communities. However, the Congress has refuted these allegations, and urged the Election Commission to take action against Modi for his ‘divisive’ and ‘malicious’ statements, which they argue target a particular religious community.
PM Modi also attacked the Congress for banning Ram Navami celebrations in Rajasthan, alleging that the party’s rule had made even chanting Hanuman Chalisa a crime. He claimed that for the first time, Shobha Yatra processions were allowed on Ram Navami in Rajasthan. With inputs from agencies.
